Sometimes when more information is thrown at me not directly related to what we are working on I easily get off task and struggle to regain focus. Matt's visit was one of those moments that made me worry about other tasks that were going to be asked of me in the future and will it make sense when that time comes. I did not struggle with the tech portion of his information, however, going from an abstract format (where less info is what got us thinking) to a concrete (do this specific task) was a challenge for me.
It is not uncommon for me to doubt myself when I notice everyone else struggling with an assignment. I have been riding a wave of "I know what I am doing-I am not so sure anymore". I assumed it was similar to what Jen Austin asked us to do in our previous class and that is what I worked with. I know I have big expectations for what I get accomplished during this class time and I feel I have learned a tremendous about how to find ways to solve my problem. I will use my summer learning more about the blogs, organizers and sites that will help me meet my goal. Will it take me time, absolutely. I even had to change my original goal to accommodate the smaller goals I needed to sort through before tackling my big goal. I am o.k. with this.
I am a huge fan of Gardner's multiple intelligence and I pride myself on the fact that I incorporate as many of these learning styles into my lessons. I found the Kathy Schrocks revised SAMR bloom's revised taxonomyBloom's revised taxonomy validated my best practices. I am interested in learning more about this for the next time administration starts the chatter about cutting specials.
I am also a Howard Gardner fan.
ReplyDeleteKathy Schrock's website has great information on so many topics. So thankful she is out there for us.
ReplyDeletei'll be right there with you spouting facts & figures.
ReplyDeleteWAY too often "specials" go by the wayside as we continue to teach to the test.
ancient civilizations are not remembered for their test scores, but for their ART, their MUSIC, their WRITINGS...
for what will our civilization be remembered?
