I read a ton of blogs and have a couple of rss readers that I use. Since google reader left the building I have not found "the" one to replace but using Adam's search tip last night I did check out the top ones for my mac. Currently I use bloglovin and Feedly. It depends on the mood I am in as to which one I pull up. It also makes a difference if I am using my ipad versus laptop.
I have had a diigo account for a while, and do use it to bookmark but have run into the problem of never checking out those bookmarks. So, I have set a goal of looking at my page and filtering through to see what is relevant, current and still of interest to me.

I listened to J.K. Rowling's commencement speech and found that her thoughts rang true. Every year I have students who are so focused on being right--this particularly shows up when they are trying to spell something and during science inquiries. I have had students have complete, under the table meltdowns during science because they perceived that they were wrong or had failed. I think this is a big cultural shift that has to happen in order for students to not feel like failures.
It is always helpful to talk and share with colleagues. I have learned a lot from them (and Adam) this week. I like what Adam shared about setting a time limit to explore. I always get sucked up in looking at my screen for too long--and can spend hours online as evidence by my baggy eyes this morning. I just have to be disciplined enough to follow through with it.
